On October 11, Vecima Networks, Inc. announced that it has acquired the Polish broadband software solutions provider Falcon V Systems.
Through its subsidiary Vecima Technology B.V., Vecima has acquired all outstanding Falcon V Systems shares, along with the company’s technology, intellectual property, and a significant portion of the Falcon V team. Vecima will offer a combination of its Entra Cloud and Falcon V’s Principal Core and Test Suite and Charter Communications will be the initial customer.
Vecima chief operating officer Clay McCreery said flexibility and interoperability are the cornerstones of both companies.
“With this acquisition, Vecima expands its research and development footprint into Europe with an expert team of DAA technologists in Poland,” said McCreery in a press release. “Falcon V Systems will be able to take advantage of Vecima’s global scale, existing vCMTS and PON platforms, and extensive customer relationships.”
Ulf Andersson, CEO of Falcon V Systems, relayed that he was proud of the company’s accomplishments and has a positive outlook for the future.
“Vecima will take our work forward and bring it to market on a global scale, unlocking the potential of the Falcon V technology and team,” said Andersson in the same press release.
The Falcon V team will be integrated into Vecima’s Video & Broadband Solutions business.
In a commentary on the deal, Dell’Oro Group’s Jeff Heynen suggested that the agreement will build closer ties between Vecima and Charter.
“Vecima’s acquisition of Falcon V could very well have been pushed by Charter as a way to reduce the number of discrete vendors it has to coordinate with as it goes through the interop and homologation process,” wrote Heynen.
