Metro-Optix completes Telcordia OSMINE services process for the Telcordia NMA System

April 26, 2002--Metro-Optix, creators of the CityStream bandwidth manager for optical edge TDM, ATM, IP, and MPLS services, recently announced completion of the Telcordia OSMINE Services process for the Telcordia NMA System, an Operations Support System (OSS) critical for network monitoring and surveillance functions.

With this completion, a typical RBOC (Regional Bell Operating Company) will be able to deploy CityStream R1.1.2 in its network-wide equipment monitoring process for indications of network problems, such as fiber cuts, port card failures, and other events, and respond to them according to their internal standards and procedures.

"Completing the Telcordia OSMINE Services process for the Telcordia NMA System is an important step towards eventual deployment in RBOC networks," asserts Gary Brown, chief operating officer, Metro-Optix. "This marks another milestone in our Telcordia OSMINE Services program, as we complement the Hybrid ADM/DCS generic feature support and the Telcordia TIRKS System support finished earlier. Because CityStream is versatile enough to support DWDM, SONET, ATM and DACS services, a uniform OSS interface for root-cause analysis is very important to an RBOC type customer," he adds.

"Completion of OSMINE for NMA, along with TIRKS and the Hybrid ADM/DCS generic feature support, further demonstrates the commitment of Metro-Optix to selling products in the RBOC market," contends Dennis Tinley, vice president, Customer Solutions, Telcordia Technologies.

Eighty percent of the US telecommunications networks depend on software developed and maintained by Telcordia, making the OSMINE process critical for deployment of new technology in the largest metropolitan networks. The Telcordia TIRKS system plans, inventories, and assigns the circuit order control and circuit provisioning of interoffice equipment and facility inventory.
