26 November 2003 Fuzhou Fujian, China Lightwave -- Koncent Communication Inc., a PHOTOP company and fiber-optic component manufacturer, today announced that it has been issued a US patent with PUB. APP. NO. 20020159151 for an optical interleaver using Mach-Zehnder interferometry. The patent generally applies to optical communication systems.

The object of the invention is to provide an improved configuration for manufacturing a compact and low-dispersion interleaver to achieve excellent wide, flat passbands; high channel isolation; and low PDL and PMD; while maintaining a competitive price, say company representatives.

The interleavers are ideal for such applications as optical add/drop multiplexers (OADMs), DWDM systems, subsystems, system upgrading, bi-directional networks, and comb filters.
