22 October 2003 London -- Provider of Operations Support Systems Telcordia Technologies, has announced its collaboration with CIENA Corp to develop Next Generation operating system solutions for automated optical networks.
With the successful completion of interoperability testing, Telcordia and CIENA say they are poised to help carriers increase network efficiency by enabling a smooth migration to dynamic, self-aware networks for automated provisioning, protection and bandwidth management.
Ragui Kamel, group president, New Generation Systems, Telcordia, says, "By providing optimised flowthrough provisioning as part of our Elementive approach, Telcordia can help carriers get one step closer to upgrading to an intelligent optical network."
Telcordia Activator and CIENA's CoreDirector have been tested to the TMF 814 standard specifications. The success of this initial collaboration reflects the commitment shared by both companies to foster open interfaces and to improve support for service providers worldwide. The partners intend to extend this collaboration to include joint customer trials.
