11 July 2003 Allentown, PA Lightwave --T-Networks, Inc. has revealed that its Laser Integrated Module (LIM) platform had completed the full suite of Telcordia GR-468-CORE tests required for networking telecommunications components. In addition, the company's quality system has received certification from Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI) that it was in compliance with ISO 9001:2000 for the Design and Manufacture of Optoelectronic components and subassemblies.
The T-Networks LIM platform incorporates integrated InP lasers, modulators, and optical amplifiers in a standard seven-pin ILM-compatible package with inter-chip isolated coupling. T-Networks uses this technology to build extended-reach, high-power communications products with low dispersion penalties, such as the LIM100 (10 Gbits/sec), LIM400 (40 Gbits/sec), and LIM15 (analog/RF).
Telcordia is the engineering organization that telecommunications companies use to define common performance and reliability standards. To meet these standards, a statistical sample of devices must undergo a series of tests including 100 temperature cycles from -20 deg C to 85 deg C, 2000 hours of high-temperature baking at 85 deg C, and 1000 hours of damp heat testing. Other tests assure robustness to typical handling and storage environments and include shock and vibration, electrostatic discharge, and fiber pull. Lastly, accelerated aging tests assure performance for over 20 years of normal service.
