BroadLight announces Tier-1 design wins for its FTTH solution

14 May 2003 Ramat Gan, Israel Lightwave -- BroadLight Inc., supplier of communication semiconductors and optical transceivers, has recently achieved three new design wins for its end-to-end passive optical networking (PON)-enabling solution that includes burst mode transceivers, PON controllers, and software stacks for both Central Office and Customer Premises Equipment.

14 May 2003 Ramat Gan, Israel Lightwave -- BroadLight Inc., supplier of communication semiconductors and optical transceivers, has recently achieved three new design wins for its end-to-end passive optical networking (PON)-enabling solution that includes burst mode transceivers, PON controllers, and software stacks for both Central Office (CO) and Customer Premises Equipment (CPE).

The wins confirm BroadLight's commitment to introduce low cost, high performance components and transceivers in order to fuel the PON market, say company representatives. The design wins come from Tier 1 equipment vendors that are leaders in broadband access. In the past few months, an increasing number of leading DSL equipment vendors have taken renewed interest in the evolving FTTH market. More and more vendors are including ATM PON (APON)-based FTTH functionality into their product offerings.

"The demand from the carriers to be testing fully functional PON solutions by Q4 has indicated acceleration in the FTTH market," contends Amnon Presler, chief executive officer of BroadLight. "The BroadLight complete component product offering is assisting equipment vendors to meet these challenging targets by reducing time to market in a cost-effective manner."

BroadLight enables FTTH networks today by delivering end-to-end PON solutions with cost effective, high performance components. When integrated into vendor broadband access systems, these products will simplify, reduce the risk, and accelerate the introduction of PON, says the company.

BroadLight will be exhibiting the PON components and transceivers at SUPERCOMM, Atlanta, Georgia, June 3-5, 2003, in Booth 10821.
