CIENA Corp., provider of intelligent optical networking systems and software, today announced that release 2.1.1 of its CoreDirector core switching product has completed the Telcordia OSMINE Services process for the Telcordia TIRKS, NMA, and Transport Element Activation Manager systems.

Completion of this process helps enable CoreDirector's seamless operation with service providers that have deployed these Telcordia OSSs, such as the U.S.-based incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs).

"The completion of OSMINE satisfies our customers' expectations for interoperability with the Telcordia OSSs," explains Pamela Adams, senior vice president, core networking group for CIENA. "This milestone for CoreDirector can only increase our ability to offer solutions that the world's largest carriers require to serve their customers," she adds.

The completion of the Telcordia OSMINE Services process will help enable carriers to integrate CIENA's core switching solutions into their existing networks and operations environments to rapidly meet the growing demand for increased flexibility, intelligence, and efficiency.

"The Telcordia OSMINE Services process is a rigorous, thorough testing for products attracting major carriers," asserts Dennis Tinley, vice president, Customer Solutions, Telcordia Technologies Inc. "Completion of this process will enable CIENA to further establish its CoreDirector product with potential customers."
