Nov. 13, 2001--Stream Intelligent Networks Corp. and Akara Corp. will partner to offer StorageConnect Managed Fibre Channel, a next-generation storage service for large enterprises with high-volume, business-critical data storage needs.

Stream Intelligent Networks Corp. (Toronto, ON) and Akara Corporation (Ottawa, ON and Waltham, MA) will partner to offer StorageConnect Managed Fibre Channel, a next-generation storage service for large enterprises with high-volume, business-critical data storage needs.

StorageConnect offers high-capacity secure data transport incorporating high-performance technology which can be integrated with planned or existing data protection architectures and provide a monitored pathway to the storage provider of choice. According to Stream, the solution has no distance barriers, offers 90% network utilization efficiencies and reduced backup and restoration time, and the ability to continuously monitor the health of the network and quality of data.

Stream is a Canadian Metropolitan Area Network provider offering telecommunications services to clients over a hybrid fiber and fixed wireless-based network throughout the Toronto area. Akara designs and manufactures optical access products specifically to assist large enterprises to manage remote back up, content distribution, disaster preparedness, and storage consolidation.
