ITT Industries, Network Systems & Services, partner with 3M to supply fiber-to-the-desk

Sept. 7, 2001--ITT Industries, Inc. Network Systems & Services announced the signing of a global supply agreement with 3M for the VF-45 duplex fiber optic connector.

ITT Industries, Inc. (NYSE: ITT) Network Systems & Services (NS&S) announced the signing of a global supply agreement with 3M (NYSE: MMM) for the VF-45 duplex fiber optic connector.

Following ITT Industries, NS&S' recent launch of the first OM3-compliant high bandwidth fiber solution, the addition of the VF-45 connector drastically changes the way fiber is delivered to the desktop, ultimately providing customers with more flexibility when designing a physical layer network and enabling operating speeds of up to 10 Gbps and beyond to the desktop.

Primarily aimed at the fiber-to the-desktop (FTTD) market, the VF-45 connector's simplicity, robustness and ease of termination, as well as its small form factor size, make it ideal for the harsher end-user workspace. These features also enable price and performance levels that allow fiber-based networks to compete with copper-based alternatives.

The inclusion of the VF-45 connector in the ITT Industries, NS&S fiber and copper product portfolio allows customers to make the right product choice to meet their business and environmental needs.

ITT Industries, NS&S provides the communications infrastructures that support business. Its solutions have been designed from the outset to provide future proofed, high performance networking capabilities for mission-critical applications.
