OCLI consolidates activities in California

May 14, 2001--As part of the JDS Uniphase Global Realignment Program, OCLI, a JDS Uniphase company, is consolidating its operations in Santa Rosa, California.

As part of the JDS Uniphase Global Realignment Program, OCLI, a JDS Uniphase company, is consolidating its operations in Santa Rosa, California. It is anticipated that this transition will be completed before the end of September 2001 and most likely will result in the closure of OCLI's Hillend, Scotland facility following consultations with the local employees and their representatives. All products and services provided by the Hillend operation will be continued from Santa Rosa.

The company's primary objectives in centralizing its optical filter business is to accomplish the following:

* create global centers of excellence for advanced product development.

* consolidate the manufacture of its products from multiple sites into specific locations around the world.

* provide one-stop customer service, sales and support.
