Into Networks, a provider of streaming software technology and integration services, and FastWeb, an Italian competitive carrier, announced that they will together provide a streaming software offering to FastWeb subscribers over the carrier's all fiber-optic network. FastWeb is the first European Internet service provider to power its streaming software offering with the Into solution. The agreement makes streaming software services available to the entire FastWeb subscriber base at download speeds of up to 10 Mbps.

Broadband penetration in Europe is forecasted for steady growth over the next five years. While in 1999 only 0.2 percent of European households had a broadband Internet connection, this is expected to rise to 18 percent by 2005, according to Forrester Research.

Into's streaming software solution allows users to try software for free, rent it for a few days or subscribe to channels of software on a monthly basis. IntoMedia provides Internet users with secure click-and-play access to traditionally CD-ROM-based software and other rich media from the leading software publishers without requiring time-consuming downloads or the hassles of installing software.
