Canadian-based optical transport equipment developer Optelian will move its design and manufacturing operations to a larger facility in the Kanata region of Ottawa.

Canadian-based optical transport equipment developer Optelian will move its design and manufacturing operations to a larger facility in the Kanata region of Ottawa. The new facility, at 1 Brewer Hunt Way, Ottawa ON, will offer more than twice the space of Optelian’s existing facility.

The company says that customer acceptance of its CWDM, DWDM, and ROADM product lines, such as the LightGAIN and LightMUX, systems, sparked the move. Optelian’s new director of marketing, Stephen Loudermilk, told Lightwave that the LightGAIN ROADM family has led the way, becoming the company’s top seller.

The move should be completed by Monday, June 20, Laudermilk predicted.

“We founded the company in Ottawa nine years ago,” said Dave Weymouth, co-founder and CEO at Optelian, “and we have remained committed to keeping our manufacturing operations in North America, ensuring superior quality, faster delivery, and improved customer service. Our larger facility will enable us to continue to grow and support our customers better.”

Optelian plans to hire additional R&D and manufacturing employees to fully staff the new facility. The company also has a new office in Marietta, GA, that houses its sales, marketing, and service operations.
