Shenzhen Gigalight Co., Ltd. says it has opened a new 1800-m² factory in Xili Shenzhen, China, to produce fiber array products. The facility has been built to 10,000 grade cleaning standards and will be used to produce Gigalight’s next generation of fiber array offerings.

The new fiber arrays will leverage what Gigalight calls “a special Ionic semiconductor” and precision cutting, including high-precision core pitch. The new factory capabilities and technology will improve reliability and reduce cost, among other benefits, according to Gigalight.

Gigalight adds the capabilities of the new facility will enable it to optimize its traditional fiber-array products’ technology and expand capacity. The company will also perform wafer cutting in the new factory.

As a result, Gigalight’s expects to greatly improve its planar lightwave circuit (PLC) based splitter products as well as its other passive components. Gigalight says it plans to continue its efforts in the fields of PLC, micro-optical, polarization maintaining, high power products, and passive products, as well as produce an upcoming line of next-generation WDM-PON/critical passive optical components.
