“Hossein is not just a respected technologist. He brings both passion and energy to telecoms innovation,” said Suri. “His in-depth experience driving technology strategy and architecture within service providers will bring a whole new level of customer focus to our own innovation.”

The new role of CTO was created by Nokia Siemens Networks following the reorganization it announced in November 2009 and the elimination of the role of chief operating officer from January 2010. The CTO will be responsible for developing and advocating the company’s technology strategy and long-term views on network architecture. Moiin and his teams will lead the company’s research and innovation to anticipate the needs of the world’s leading communications service providers.

Nokia Siemens Networks is playing a key role in this social and technical transformation and I hope to be able to guide the company in a direction that will benefit the largest number of people and organizations.”

Moiin has worked in Europe, Asia, and the United States during his career. Prior to working for BT, Moiin held positions with T-Mobile including group vice president for Technical Strategy and chief architect. Moiin was also chief technologist for the Network Service Provider Group at Sun Microsystems where he spent several years in a variety of management and development roles.
