Korea's Chung Cheong University deploys Force10 E-Series to build 10-GbE network

The Force10 E600 is the foundation of the university's new campus network, which includes a wireless infrastructure, and provides the resiliency and scalability that will enable the university to further extend its leadership in education, say Force10 representatives.

The Force10 E-Series is the cornerstone of the university's new 10-GbE network. Leveraging the scalability of the E-Series, Chung Cheong University is replacing its ATM infrastructure with a new high performance 10-Gigabit backbone that will grow as bandwidth demand increases. According to the company, the Force10 E-Series delivers the ATM-like resiliency that enables Chung Cheong University to aggregate all IP-based traffic, including traffic from the university's new wireless infrastructure.

"The government is once again championing networking development by helping the next generation technologies that are now in the public network expand into the enterprise and campus networks, further upping the ante in broadband leadership."

In December 2002, the Korean government established "e-Campus Vision 2007." This comprehensive measure for university information utilization is a long-term plan to improve the education and research facilities of the country's leading universities.

The Force10 E-Series combines improved scalability with best-in-class resiliency to bring Chung Cheong University the network and application predictability it requires to maximize network performance. Fully distributed hardware and modular software deliver line-rate Gigabit- and 10-Gigabit throughput across all ports regardless of traffic type or condition while built-in hardware redundancy guarantees performance continuity.

Chung Cheong University is located on the outskirts of Cheongju, the capital city of Chungcheongbuk-Do province. Located 150 kilometers South of Seoul, Cheongju is experiencing rapid industrial growth, led primarily by the high-tech industry that is driving foreign and domestic investments in the area.
