April 23, 2004 New York, NY and Petaluma, CA -- Turin Networks and telx, a New York core interconnection facility, have announced the addition of two new offerings to the telx suite of network interconnection services, enabled by the telx Brilliant Platform. These expanded capabilities, combining Turin's Traverse 2000 Multiservice Transport Platform with telx's interconnection expertise and carrier reach, are designed to make the process of managing global broadband traffic easier and more affordable for service providers.
Based at 60 Hudson Street, telx provides network access to more than 150 network providers and enterprise customers within its 45,000 sq. ft. of secure facilities. The telx Brilliant Platform provides international gateway services tailored to international service providers and those wanting to extend their reach globally. The platform provides translation of a wide range of international SDH interfaces to the North American SONET counterpart, and vice versa. Bi-directional interface conversions supported include OC-48 to STM-16, OC-12 to STM-4, OC-3 to STM-1, and DS3 to E3. Also available as an optional service are bi-directional virtual cross-connecting and mapping of SONET STS-1/Nc framed payloads to SDH VC-3 or VC-4 structures as well as VT1.5/2 to VC-11/12.
Meanwhile, the telx Brilliant Platform's Ethernet transport services aid service providers and large enterprises requiring carrier-class, IP-centric connectivity for applications such as Ethernet-based private lines, transparent LAN services and Internet access, as well as applications with more stringent latency and QoS requirements such as VoIP and IP video. Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet connections are available up to full wire-speed rates. As a carrier-class offering, the telx Brilliant Platform services are designed to support the highest levels of reliability, manageability, and bandwidth efficiency.
