This month, Boldyn Networks for Higher Education (formerly Apogee) released a student connectivity report that explored the experiences and opinions of college students regarding internet connectivity in their residence halls and campuses.
The report drew data from a survey of thousands of United States college students and highlights the challenges that unreliable campus internet connections present to students.
Boldyn says the report’s insights into the growing demand for campus connectivity and the consequences of a failure to meet that demand can serve as a resource for college IT and network administrators.
Scott Drossos, CEO of Boldyn Networks for Higher Education, said that reliable connectivity is a necessity for college students.
“This survey underscores the vital role that internet access plays in academic success and student well-being,” said Drossos in a press release. “We are committed to partnering with institutions to close the gap between student expectations and their actual experiences on campus.”
The report shows that 85% of students have experienced connectivity problems in the past year, and only 25% expressed high satisfaction with their current campus connectivity. The report also shows that bandwidth demand will continue to grow, with 99% of students having multiple devices on campus and 23% having more than four.
