Quantum Bridge Communications, Inc., a developer of optical access networking solutions, announced SIGECOM, a broadband utility joint venture offering telecom services in Indiana, as its first customer in the utilities marketplace. SIGECOM is leveraging its 900-mile fiber optic network to deliver voice and data services to business customers over the Quantum Bridge Optical Access System.
SIGECOM is focused on providing customers in Southern Indiana with a comprehensive suite of communications services over its new, high-capacity fiber-optic network. SIGECOM is currently using the Passive Optical Networking (PON) capabilities of the Quantum Bridge Optical Access System to provision business customers with a flexible array of services ranging from 1-100 Mbps, and anywhere in between. As a result of the favorable economics enabled by the Quantum Bridge Optical Access System, SIGECOM is able to quickly capitalize on the newly deregulated utilities marketplace and begin serving business customers with telecommunications and Internet service offerings over its existing fiber-optic network. SIGECOM's initial focus has been capturing customers in and around Evansville, Indiana, with plans to migrate into the surrounding urban and suburban communities.
