Frontier Corp., Rochester, NY, and ALC Communications Corp., Bingham Farms, MI, are merging to create the fifth largest long-distance carrier in the United States with consolidated revenues approaching $2 billion. With long-distance revenues in the $1.4 billion range, the company, which will be known as Frontier Corp., is behind only AT&T, MCI, Sprint and LDDS.
