December 5, 2005 Chicago, IL -- Stratos International has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Korean company Shinkwang for the procurement of FTTH and FTTX products. Stratos says the deal gives it exclusive access to a broad range of competitive passive components, to be offered in the North American market.

Founded in 1998, Shinkwang is a Korean-based manufacturer of fiber-optic communications products, and an established supplier to Korea Telecom and other FTTX customers in Korea. Stratos International is a manufacturer of active and passive optical, optoelectronic, RF, and microwave components, subsystems, and interconnect products used in telecom and enterprise markets.

"Combined with our own new connector products designed for outside plant applications, Stratos is well positioned to aggressively pursue a focused customer base including municipalities, local phone companies, developers, and independent service providers," comments Andy Harris, president and CEO of Stratos. "We consider these to be the strongest and most lucrative sector of this rapidly growing opportunity."
