May 17, 2005 Claremont, NC -- Draka Comteq today announced plans to re-start operations at its North American optical fiber manufacturing facility in Claremont during the third quarter of this year. According to the company, the move comes in response to growing demand for its optical cables and fibers.

"This is a natural step that demonstrates our drive and commitment to provide superior service and high-value products to our North American customers."

"Through our Claremont operations, we will reinforce our position in the American market significantly, by offering the latest generation of fiber products and a full services portfolio to our customers."
The company's cable products are based on its patented PCVD optical fiber process, and include its ESMF and TeraLight singlemode and HiCap and MaxCap multimode lines, as well as specialty fibers.
