Southern New England Telecommunications Corp. (snet), New Haven, CT, has agreed to become part of sbc Communications Inc. of San Antonio, TX. Under terms of the agreement, snet will retain its name and headquarters in New Haven and continue a $4.5 billion upgrade of its network and expansion of cable-TV services throughout the state. snet claims 40% of the Connecticut long-distance market.
