11 September 2003 Hannover, Germany Lightwave Europe -- LambdaNet Communications, has announced that it has achieved a 200% increase in customers for the period January 2002 to July 2003, with the most significant growth period being the last seven months.

Between January and July 2003, the company connected 70 new corporate and carrier customers to its IP and backbone network. This brings the total number of international customers, which includes Completel, Easynet, Equant, MGN, Telefonica Deutschland GmbH and Vodafone D2, to 300.

While LambdaNet's customers are predominantly fixed and mobile network operators, ISP, ASP, content providers, media companies and systems integrators, it also specialises in addressing the network and IP capacity requirements of large corporates and public sector organisations. Corporate customers include Grenke Leasing AG, Halliburton, and Verlagsgruppe Handelsblatt.

LambdaNet attributes this increase in customers to the extension of its IP/MPLS product portfolio and its penetration of new markets in the UK, Benelux and the USA. The company continues to expand its reach and to improve the scope and quality of its services in response to customer demand.

A recent example is the extension of the German network to an additional five cities and the French network to an additional three cities in response to a significant increase in demand for data services in these countries.

In addition to its IP and backbone network, LambdaNet operates Metro Area Networks (MANs) in the 15 European business capitals: London, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux, Strasburg, Lyon, Madrid, Vienna, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Munich, Hamburg and Copenhagen. LambdaNet's network now connects customers to more than 50 European and two major US data centres providing European-based businesses with high speed, direct and secure links across Europe and The States.

"Growing business from existing customers and the signing of so many new contracts, in particular with corporate customers, confirms that we have the most effective business model for the European market, not just in terms of bandwidth connectivity, but also in the management and delivery of IP services," said Bernie Smedley, CEO of parent group LNG Holdings S.A. "This ability to align the needs of a specific market segment with innovative products and network reach has helped to position LambdaNet as a dependable supplier at both a national and international level."

"LambdaNet Communications is regarded as a leading provider of comprehensive, high-quality, secure and extremely flexible telecommunications services. Many of our customers have come to us because of our reputation for providing excellent quality of service and our expanding network and impressive year on year growth in terms of customer numbers cements our status as a leading telecommunications carrier."

Key developments in Europe
The company extended its network to Geneva and Prague - both growing international business centres. It also completed its 15th European metro area network (MAN) in Copenhagen, one of the busiest network nodes in Northern Europe.

Lambdanet now has connections to more than 50 European data centres. In London there has been the addition of the Redbus Interhouse and TeleCity data centres in London to route traffic via LambdaNet's London network. In Amsterdam, connection to TeleCity's data centre has created a major point of presence in the Netherlands. Lamdanet has established access to 42 fully owned co-location facilities in Europe

Key developments in the USA
LambdaNet's network was extended to Washington D.C. to provide direct connectivity to EQUINIX, one of the most important Internet Exchange Points (IX) in the US. Direct connectivity to New York has been available since August 2002. Moreover, Group9 was appointed to drive sales in the US.
