Adesta and TOUCHAMERICA partner to develop networks along Chicago's rail system

June 22, 2001
June 22, 2001--Adesta Communications Inc., a developer of fiber optic-based communication networks, signed its sixth telecommunications business agreement with TOUCHAMERICA, a broadband service provider, to build conduit along the Green Line of the CTA rail system.

Bracknell Corporation (NASDAQ: BRKC; TSE; BRK) announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Adesta Communications Inc., a developer of fiber optic-based communication networks, signed its sixth telecommunications business agreement with TOUCHAMERICA, the broadband service provider of The Montana Power Company (NYSE:MTP).

Existing agreements between Adesta and TOUCHAMERICA relate to development of fiber-optic networks along the Chicago Transit Authority's (CTA) Blue Line route, Illinois State Toll Highway Authority (ISTHA) network and in and around metro Chicago. Now, TOUCHAMERICA has agreed to partner with Adesta to build conduit along the Green Line of the CTA rail system. In addition, TOUCHAMERICA will partner with Adesta to build a route linking the Green Line to Interstate 294, where it connects to the ISTHA network.

Adesta has contracted with the CTA to install, maintain, and market fiber optic communications systems along the CTA lines. Adesta has completed construction of a fiber optic network along the CTA Blue Line. Green Line construction is scheduled for completion in early fall. Adesta has also been given approval to build along the CTA Red Line, but will not begin development until an anchor tenant is secured.

The CTA Green Line project provides users a high-speed communications connection from downtown Chicago to the 296-mile network built by Adesta along rights-of-way owned by ISTHA. Adesta is installing multiple ducts along the Green Line route, the agreement with TOUCHAMERICA provides for use of six of the ducts. Adesta will market the remaining conduit along the routes to other users.

Advanced fiber-optic technology will allow the delivery of high-speed data, voice and video transmission to the CTA control center, providing CTA customers with better service. CTA management will be able to better identify and correct problems along the rail lines, resulting in better on time performance, enhanced safety and improved fare collection.
