March 20, 2006 Petah Tikva, Israel -- The Gas Authority of India, Ltd. (GAIL) has selected ECI Telecom's optical networking platforms for the expansion of the authority's Gail-Tel South network. ECI's equipment will support the long-haul SDH regional network in an expansion of thousands of kilometers designed to increase GAIL's capacity to deliver services as a "carrier of carriers."

"We were very impressed with ECI's success in working with other major networks in India," comments Rajesh Vedvyas, GM of telecom at Gail-Tel. "ECI's solution is not only most cost-effective, but it also brings immense flexibility and operational value to our telecom expansion."

GAIL will deploy ECI's converged optical platform, including the company's XDM multi-service provisioning platform, its BroadGate-40 platform for bandwidth management utilization, and its LightSoft network management system.

"GAIL is not only a leader in the Indian business market but also a pioneer in the adoption of advanced technologies," concludes Aviel Tenenbaum, president of ECI Telecom's Asia Pacific regional business unit. "We look forward to working with GAIL to help implement a cost-effective and scalable solution for their telecom network expansion."
