April 19, 2006 Pittsburgh, PA -- TelCove, a provider of telecommunications services to enterprise customers, carriers, and government organizations, announced the further expansion of its fiber-optic network in Florida. The provider says the upgraded local and intercity network now covers 2,700 route miles serving 14 markets in the state.
In the Clearwater market, TelCove has 68 miles of embedded fiber-optic cable; this network infrastructure supports over 220 medium-to-large Clearwater area enterprises. In the Daytona Beach market, the provider has 35 miles of fiber-optic cable supporting over 250 medium-to-large area enterprises. In the Jacksonville market, 461 miles of fiber-optic cable now supports 175 medium-to-large area enterprises; in the Fort Myers market, 32 miles of fiber-optic cable supports nearly 400 customers.
TelCove says its focus is providing its Florida customers with fiber to the enterprise - a direct fiber-based connection from an enterprise location to the TelCove metro backbone network - to ensure the highest levels of network up-time and performance. Enterprise services provided via the expanded network include Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP), business continuity and disaster recovery, and 10-Gigabit metropolitan Ethernet services.
"TelCove's recent network enhancements signal a renewed commitment to the area and to Florida as a whole," comments Jeff Donahue, TelCove's senior vice president of sales and operations. "Additionally, they reflect a significant up-tick in local demand for next- generation services delivered over our fiber-based infrastructure."
