Brooks Fiber Properties Inc., Town & Country, MO, plans to acquire Bittel Telecommunications Corp., a switch-based long-distance reseller serving the San Francisco and Los Angeles markets, with annualized revenues of approximately $9 million. The agreement is subject to the final approval by the California Public Utility Commission.

When the transaction is completed, Brooks Fiber plans to offer a wider array of telecommunications services, including videoconferencing and distance-learning. Brooks currently operates a network in excess of 75 route-miles and 6650 fiber-miles in the San Francisco Bay area.
