AUGUST 13, 2007 -- Cortina Systems (search for Cortina Systems) today announced the opening of offices in Hong Kong and Korea. Cortina says it is committed to working closely with global equipment manufacturers and service providers to deliver products and services to further improve their time-to-market. The new offices will expand Cortina's ability to provide local sales, technical support, and professional services for customers in the Asia-Pacific region, say company representatives.

"Asia-Pacific is increasingly becoming a strategic investment region for Cortina due to our growing customer base and supply chain partners here," reports Bruce Margetson, Cortina CFO. "Leveraging the highly talented workforce in Hong Kong and Korea will allow us to closely align with our customers and provide the best support and products for their success."

Cortina says its recent acquisition of ImmenStar (search for ImmenStar) has led to significant growth in the Asia-Pacific region. Cortina claims it leads the industry in mixed-signal, high-density, low-power ICs; 10-Gbit/sec packet data framing; high-density Ethernet aggregation technology; optical FECs; and TDM and 10/100 PHYs. In September 2006, Cortina acquired Intel's Optical Networking Division, increasing its product portfolio to more than 300 products with tens of millions of units shipped annually, says the company.

Cortina's Hong Kong office is located at Cortina Systems (HK) Ltd., 1204, Admiralty Centre, Tower I, 18 Harcourt Road, Admiralty, Hong Kong, Tel: +852 34123123.
