Colocation data center services provider Interxion, a Digital Realty (NYSE: DLR) company, says it has launched construction of the Interxion Paris Digital Park, a data center campus with access to up to 85 MW of customer-available power. The company expects the site house four data centers spanning a total of approximately 40,000 square meters of equipped space.
The site’s first data center in the Paris Digital Park will be Interxion’s eight in the city and thus will be dubbed PAR8. Construction will comprise three phases and will result in 9,600 square meters of equipped space and 19 MW of customer-available power when fully completed. The initial phase is expected to provide approximately 3,200 square meters and is scheduled to open late next year. Capital expenditure for PAR8, excluding land and other shared costs for the site, is expected to be approximately €207 million.
The Interxion Paris Digital Park is adjacent to the company’s PAR7 facility and will be connected to that site as well as Interxion’s other Paris data centers. The company sees the new project as a strategic expansion of its PlatformDIGITAL capabilities in France.
“We continue to experience solid demand across our pan-European footprint, with the cloud and content platform providers, in particular, continuing to expand their presence in the key European cities,” said David Ruberg, Interxion’s CEO. “Interxion Paris Digital Park meets the key requirements of local and international customers with access to dense network connectivity, available power and line of sight to substantial expansion capacity and will keep us at the forefront of the Paris market opportunity.”
