Global data center services provider EdgeConneX says that the Phoenix Internet Exchange (Phoenix-IX) has built a Phoenix-IX node into EdgeConneX's Phoenix Edge Data Center (EDC). Global data center services provider EdgeConneX says that the Phoenix Internet Exchange (Phoenix-IX) has built a Phoenix-IX node into EdgeConneX's Phoenix Edge Data Center (EDC). The node provides EdgeConneX customers in the Phoenix EDC with direct access to Phoenix-IX peering services as well as such other services as multi-lateral peering agreement (MLPA) route servers and private virtual local area networks (VLANs).

Peering participants IOS, Hurricane Electric, and PhoenixNAP established Phoenix-IX in the fall of 2012 as the first and only peering fabric in Arizona, operated at no monthly port cost to participants. The non-profit internet exchange currently uses Brocade switches via MPLS and BIRD Route Servers with 24x7 monitoring of its peering fabric.

"We are thrilled to announce our availability within the EdgeConneX Phoenix EDC as we expand our footprint throughout the region with agile and reliable peering services," said Paul Emmons, executive director, Phoenix-IX. "At Phoenix-IX, we are dedicated to providing peering participants with exceptional interconnectivity opportunities within our growing market."

Located at 3011 S 52nd Street, Suite 107 in Tempe, AZ, the Phoenix EDC offers a secure colocation facility for customers wishing to deliver content and applications to local-market consumers with the lowest possible latency, says EdgeConneX. The partnership with Phoenix-IX is the fourth such agreement EdgeConneX has reached, following similar arrangements in Boston with MASS-IX, Minneapolis with MICE, and Portland, OR, with NWAX.
