ROOT Data Center says that GTT Communications, Inc. (NYSE: GTT) has established a point of presence (PoP) within MTL-R2, ROOT's Montreal facility, to meet increasing colocation service demands in Montreal. MTL-R2 is Canada's largest wholesale data center, ROOT asserts.
According to ROOT, its facilities are designed with enhanced network infrastructure, scalability, low-cost, green energy technology, and high security standards. The Canadian climate enables ROOT's free air-cooling systems and renewable hydroelectric power resources as well.
In addition to 55 MW of power capacity to accommodate increasing customer demands, ROOT says it delivers a next-gen colocation service. The service includes rapid deployment of high-density racks, and a secure and carrier-neutral facility designation.
"Through GTT, ROOT Data Center customers now have more connectivity options," said AJ Byers, ROOT Data Center president and CEO. "Companies throughout North America, including top technology firms that have IT infrastructure in Canada, can now benefit from ROOT's cutting-edge colocation services coupled with GTT's internet and wide area networking (WAN) services, including secure and private connectivity to leading cloud service providers."
Key cloud providers and multinational enterprises are selecting Quebec for its business and economic opportunities, contributing to growing demand in Montreal, ROOT says.
"ROOT Data Center's Montreal facility is located along one of the busiest routes for Internet traffic between Europe and the U.S.," said Jeff Beer, GTT division president, Carrier. "With this new PoP, ROOT's multinational customers are able to combine industry-leading infrastructure with GTT's global reach to support their international business operations."
U.S.-based international telecommunications services provider GTT's global Tier 1 IP network covers six continents, with broad reach throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. The provider is focused on enhancing its worldwide Tier 1 IP backbone, and recently purchased Custom Connect to improve its backbone with additional European and Middle Eastern PoPs (see "GTT enhances IP backbone with Custom Connect acquisition").
