Alloptic receives patents for point-to-multipoint PON

MAY 2, 2007 -- Alloptic Inc. (search for Alloptic), developer of passive optical network (PON) technology, has been granted patents for "Point-To-Multipoint Passive Optical Network That Utilizes Variable-Length Packets" in the United States (U.S. Pat. 7,031,343), Taiwan (#90128223), and China (#ZL01821736.2).

Alloptic claims it was the first company to develop an Ethernet-based PON product, and it continues to introduce new technology to the communications community. Alloptic says its systems are in use around the world and offer years of field-hardened operational experience. Alloptic equipment leverages industry-standard protocols and architectures to deliver gigabits of bandwidth to residential and business users.
