CityFibre re-ups Hexatronic for FTTH fiber supply

Feb. 28, 2022
The agreement covers the supply of fiber to the home (FTTH) infrastructure technology, including fiber-optic cables, microducts, connectivity cabinets, and aerial nodes.

Hexatronic UK Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Hexatronic Group AB, says it has received another framework supply agreement with UK broadband altnet CityFibre. The agreement covers the supply of fiber to the home (FTTH) infrastructure technology, including fiber-optic cables, microducts, connectivity cabinets, and aerial nodes. The new supply agreement, worth an estimated 100 million GBP, carries on a relationship launched in February 2019, when Hexatronic revealed a similar deal to provide similar technology for CityFibre’s initial FTTH deployment to 1 million homes.

The new deal calls for Hexatronic UK to supply FTTH infrastructure technology over three years, with an extension option for an additional two years. CityFibre is in the midst of an FTTH deployment that aims to reach up to 8 million homes, 800,000 businesses, 400,000 public sector sites, and 250,000 5G access points by end of 2025 (see "Vodafone becomes CityFibre’s anchor customer for UK Full Fibre deployment" and "CityFibre closes £1.125 billion financing extension").

“We’re pleased to continue and grow our relationship with Hexatronic,” commented James Thomas, director of supply chain at CityFibre. “They have consistently provided high-quality solutions to support our nationwide rollout and continue to work closely with us as partners. We look forward to our continued collaboration in delivering what is a critical project to upgrade the UK’s digital infrastructure.”

“We are delighted to have retained the trust, as CityFibre’s largest supplier of passive fiber-optic products, of such a dynamic and important player on the expansive UK market,” added Henrik Larsson Lyon, Hexatronic´s CEO. “We have been working closely with CityFibre as a strategic supplier over a number of years and even before as a partner on the development of passive infrastructure solutions that can help drive efficiency in their build program. Our market-leading FTTH products are characterized by being quick and easy to install, and we support our customers with local field support and training facilities. This continued partnership with CityFibre further strengthens our position within the rapidly expanding UK market.”
