Ortronics rolls out enhanced OptiMo cable management system
June 21, 2005 New London, CT -- Ortronics/Legrand has introduced a new line of OptiMo fiber-optic products, including rack-mount fiber cabinets, fiber adapter panels, and cable management accessories. The company says the products incorporate improved cable management features while providing seamless integration with the company's Mighty Mo 6 copper and fiber cable management system.
Suitable for LAN or data center/SAN applications, the new OptiMo rack mount fiber cabinets are available in patch, splice, or patch/splice versions, in 1U, 2U, 3U, and 4U sizes. The cabinets are engineered to provide stability and control of backbone cables entering the rear of the cabinet, and feature expanded rear access for easy installation and maintenance.
The company says the new cabinets are significantly deeper than competitive products, with a design based on the company's 10.5" Mighty Mo 6 vertical channels, providing ample space for cable management, while ensuring physical support for large active electronics. Additions have also been made to the fronts of the cabinets to enhance the management of fiber patch cords as they exit the cabinets, according to the company.
"As we designed this new line of OptiMo products, we were careful to address the requirements that our customers have voiced to us. For instance, access to the rear of the fiber shelf is difficult with most commonly available fiber cabinet solutions; this can create difficulty particularly when using the splicing approach to fiber termination," explains Mike Hines, vice president of fiber-optic products for Ortronics/Legrand. "Ortronics has solved this problem with a unique design that provides greater access, front and rear, and adds unique fiber management features to create a very user-friendly, stable installation."
The new OptiMo line also includes a range of enhanced adapter panels, available with SC and LC adapters for singlemode or multimode applications. Alternate connectors are also available.
