Superior Telecom's QuickCount fiber marking

To improve the user friendliness of its premises fiber cable products, Superior TeleCom Inc., subsidiary of SUPERIOR ESSEX, has introduced a QuickCount marking system for the TeraGain and TeraGain XT cables. The company has also added select fiber cable sizes to its popular Reel-in-a-Box packaging capabilities.

With the QuickCount feature, the cable jacket is printed with the exact number of feet remaining on the reel, a functionality that "removes the guesswork for premises fiber cable installers, who could waste time and money if the last several hundred feet on a reel ended up too short for the next cable run," explains Stephen Martin, director of premises product management.

"For speed of installation, the inherent portability advantages of Reel-in-a-Box packaging make it superior to standard reel packaging. Our new Reel-in-a-Box packaging not only stacks and travels better, it also protects the fiber cable better than a reel, which typically leaves the cable exposed," contends Martin.

QuickCount and Reel-in-a-Box packaging are currently available for TeraGain and TeraGain XT multimode fiber cables in duplex, quad, and 6-fiber constructions.
