Fiber-optic temperature sensor
The optically powered temperature sensor suits high-voltage environments and has temperature spans of 0° to +150°C, with a resolution of 0.4°C. By sending both power and signals over optical fiber, the sensor is totally isolated from ground. The optical signal is also immune to electrical or radio interference. The unit consists of a local and remote module. The local module is available in a 19-inch rack mount or in an enclosure and operates on 100 to 250V AC. The remote module incorporates the temperature sensor and is connected to the local module via a single fiber embedded in a 138-kV rated insulator.
