Telstra Corp. Ltd. (Melbourne, Australia) will benefit from an expected Australian $5.1-billion Internet industry via a landing on the SEA-ME-WE 3 international undersea fiber cable. The landing, in Perth, is part of Telstra`s investment in the transcontinental project begun in 1997 and expected to carry traffic by the end of this year. The undersea cable links Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Western Europe and includes a 5000-mi cable link from Perth to Singapore.
