ATMC picks ETI's Triad platform for FTTP provisioning
July 26, 2005 Norcross, GA -- ATMC (formerly the Atlantic Telephone Membership Corporation), a member-owned communications cooperative in North Carolina, has selected ETI Software's Triad platform to automate the provisioning of voice, video, and data services in the co-op's FTTP network.
"Upgrading to Triad made a lot of sense for ATMC, especially given the proven performance of ETI's CableBridge, and ETI's excellent customer service," comments Keith Holden, IT Manager for ATMC. "Provisioning fiber services is a complex and time consuming process. Our investment in Triad will pay for itself by providing us with instantaneous, error-free provisioning of our FTTP network services."
Founded in 1955, ATMC say it is the largest member-owned communications cooperative in North Carolina, with more than 33,000 members. The co-op provides communications services including local telephone, long distance, paging, business communication systems, wireless, Internet/Broadband, and cable television services. Prior to selecting Triad, the co-op provisioned subscriber video services using the company's CableBridge platform. The Triad platform will continue automation of video services activation; however, the platform will increase ETI's provisioning role to automatic provisioning of the co-op's FTTP network and future service delivery technologies.
ETI says its Triad software provides "out-of-the-box" functionality to automate provisioning processes for both active and passive FTTP technologies, from a variety of vendors. According to the company, the software automates activation of all service ports on the optical network terminal (ONT) at a customer's premises, where FTTP networks terminate. Additionally, according to the company, the software can automatically set the bandwidth, or Quality of Service, for selected ports, so that it matches a service level requested by a customer. The company says the software also supports automatic discovery of new ONTs on an FTTP network, and can automatically provision these devices in real-time. According to the company, since its Triad software also provisions video set-top boxes (RF or IP) and other CPE devices, including its predecessor CableBridge, the system eliminates multiple data entry points, as well as service errors and delays associated with manual "swivel chair" processes.
"Laying fiber in new-build areas makes economic sense, and by deploying ETI's Triad, companies such as Atlantic will be able to launch FTTP services without any provisioning headaches, or increased operational manpower costs," concludes Peter M. Pifer, CEO of ETI.
