Townes Telecommunications, which offers telecommunications services to rural subscribers via seven subsidiaries, has chosen to deploy ADTRAN’s (NASDAQ:ADTN) Total Access 5000 (TA5000) fiber access platform to support GPON and VDSL2 based services. ADTRAN adds that Townes Telecommunications will leverage the communications technology provider’s Mosaic Subscriber Insight software analytics platform, which ADTRAN asserts will help Townes reduce operational costs, increase new service adoption, and improve customer loyalty.
Townes will deploy the TA5000 via the following ILEC subsidiaries:
- Choctaw Telephone Co. in Southwest Missouri
- Oregon Farmers Mutual Telephone in Northwest Missouri
- Haxtun Telephone in Northeastern Colorado
- Mokan Dial in Eastern Kansas
- NEFCOM in Northeast Florida
- Pymatuning Telephone in Western Pennsylvania
- Walnut Hill Telephone Co. in Southwest Arkansas
“Serving rural markets, we take great pride in delivering reliable and affordable connectivity solutions as our customers are our neighbors and community partners,” said Buster Brady, director of plant operations at Townes Telecommunications. “As a local legacy provider, we listen to the needs of our customers and provide them with communications services that open the door to a world of possibilities for both work and play. ADTRAN was the ideal partner. Its unmatched expertise and broad product portfolio help us to serve 2,780 square miles with premium broadband services.”
The greater capacity the network upgrades will deliver will enable Townes and its subsidiaries to better support smart home, gaming and video streaming services. Meanwhile, the Mosaic Subscriber Insight platform will deliver subscriber behavior and usage data, which will help Townes identify broadband upsell opportunities and potential network interruptions. The service provider also will be able to identify subscribers provisioned at higher speeds than that for which they are billed, says ADTRAN.
