Resolute and BroadLight bolster CESoGPON offering
JUNE 11, 2007 -- Resolute Networks Ltd. (search for Resolute Networks) and BroadLight (search for BroadLight) today announced the successful incorporation of Resolute's recently released carrier-grade CMX-16C3 Circuit Emulation Service (CES) aggregation module in the companies' joint CES over GPON (CESoGPON) technology offering. This technology enables GPON (search for GPON) equipment manufacturers to incorporate T1/E1 voice, leased line, and frame relay services in fiber-to the-premises (FTTP) access networks.
The two companies have previously estimated that the requirement for T1/E1-based services over GPON would reach a total of more than 250,000 links serving small and medium businesses worldwide by 2008. With the CMX-16C3, a CES module is capable of aggregating up to 512 circuit emulation streams at the GPON optical line terminal (OLT). Having successfully passed interoperability tests with BroadLight's integrated GPON OLT and optical network terminal (ONT) system-on-a-chip (SoC) platforms, both say they are now better geared to capitalize on this emerging market's full potential.
"The motivation behind CESoGPON has been to enable GPON systems to unify both low-cost residential and business service applications, while facilitating rapid deployment and significantly reducing OLT and ONT system complexity and cost," recalls Didi Ivancovsky, founder and vice president of products at BroadLight. "The addition of Resolute's CMX-16C3 effectively takes our joint CESoGPON offering to a whole new level," he says.
"The CMX-16C3 has made Resolute Networks the very first vendor to ship end-to-end circuit emulation solutions with up to OC-3/STM1Irates that enable rapid integration with carrier-grade networking infrastructure," adds Gady Vekslar, Resolute Networks' CEO. "Its successful integration with our CESoGPON technology infrastructure enables us to offer telecommunication system vendors and service providers higher capacity, enhanced performance, and practically zero-latency solutions, which can now range from the simplest customer premises equipment to the most complex and highest capacity central office aggregators," he asserts.
