Zayo acquires Stuttgart-based Globalways

Nov. 28, 2023
The deal further bolsters Zayo’s European fiber network reach.

Zayo is acquiring Globalways GmbH, a Stuttgart-based fiber infrastructure and network service provider, enhancing its European presence and regional offerings.

After meeting customary closing conditions, Zayo expects the deal to close in the fourth quarter.

A critical element of the acquisition is fiber. Globalways operates about 360 km of its fiber across the Stuttgart metropolitan area and surrounding regions, with more than 700 on-net buildings.

Yannick Leboyer, managing Director at Zayo Europe, said that Globalways’ local expertise complements its European footprint.

“This acquisition will enable Zayo to offer an extended range of services to our European clients and provide Globalways’ customers with access to Zayo’s extensive international network,” he said. “This is a testament to our commitment to delivering unparalleled connectivity solutions and further building our presence in Germany. We are excited about the opportunity this creates for our European customers, employees, and stakeholders.”

The acquisition follows Zayo’s recent completion of its 400G European network, providing capacity and scalability for businesses worldwide. By making the 400G enhancements to its European network, Zayo can support global connectivity for its customers outside of Europe. Zayo’s North American network is also scheduled to be fully 400G enabled by the end of 2024.
