US Conec moves to RoHS-compliance
June 27, 2005 Hickory, NC -- US Conec has announced the availability of RoHS-compliant components. The company manufactures singlemode and multimode MT-style and custom multi-fiber ferrules, including its MTP MPO-style connector family, as well as its Concours optical flexible circuits and fan-outs. The company also provides high precision molded parts for optical packaging, termination equipment for high-density fiber interconnections, and connector cleaning products.
In response to the European Union Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electronic equipment (RoHS), the company says it has worked with its raw material and sub-component suppliers to ensure compliance with all material requirements of the legislation. Although compliance is not required until July 1, 2006, the company says it partnered with several of its largest customers to accelerate its transition.
The company has developed an extensive database detailing the chemical composition of its suppliers' materials; this database will be used to address any customer inquiries regarding RoHS- compliance. The company says that all of its standard-compliant products will now be labeled as such at the component level.
As part of its compliance program, the company says it will ensure all development projects adhere to the guidelines outlined in the directive. The company also says it's committed to responding to all future environmental improvement programs that may impact its customer base.
