Mexico`s long-distance operators, Telmex, Alestra, Avantel, and Bestel, are being included in a $600 million project of Portland, OR-based gst Internet Inc. (Portland, OR), which will link Asia, the United States, and Latin America via a submarine fiber-optic cable and fiber-optic network. The network will run from Hawaii to the West Coast of the United States, south to Mexico, Guatemala, and Costa Rica.
