During the third quarter of 1996, U.S. factory sales of telecommunications equipment rose to $46.3 billion, a 16% growth rate over 1995 sales of $39.9 billion, according to preliminary figures released by the Telecommunications Industry Association. The industry sold $16.1 billion of telecommunications equipment during that period, a 17% increase over 1995`s $13.8 billion.
