Conectiv Communications Inc., Newark, DE, is open for business and offering local and long-distance telecommunications services. According to the offshoot of the Wilmington, DE-based Delmarva Power & Light, the company says it has launched the first competitive alternative to Bell Atlantic for residential and business customers in Delaware and southeastern Pennsylvania. It plans to expand into Maryland and southern New Jersey in 1998. The company`s fiber-optic network is more than 500 mi long.
