    Energy East Telecommunications Inc. (Binghamton, NY), a new subsidiary of Energy East Corp. (Albany, NY), and Telergy Inc. (Syracuse, NY) have formed Telergy East to construct a fiber-optic network linking Binghamton, Ithaca, and Auburn, NY, by the end of 1998. Telergy is constructing fiber-optic networks throughout the Northeast and Canada and has access to more than 15,000 route-mi of utility rights-of-way.
