Telseon, a metropolitan optical networking provider, launched a Metro Wave Service offering high-capacity protocol independent connectivity solutions to carriers and service providers. This service leverages Telseon's extensive fiber footprint, technology and operational expertise to bring a new level of bandwidth connectivity to the metro market.
The Metro Wave Service complements Telseon's Gigabit Ethernet services by offering customers an expanded portfolio of metropolitan bandwidth services. Telseon's GigE logical wire product currently provides customers with an Ethernet-based platform that enables instant connectivity, bandwidth scalability, Web-based self-provisioning and integration with value-added services. Wavelength services offer high-capacity interconnect services that augment a customer's existing infrastructure. Now customers have the flexibility to purchase either logical wires or wavelengths, or create customized solutions from both services.
The service gives customers connectivity between two network locations within a given metropolitan market seamlessly transporting data and IP traffic at 2.5 or 10 Gbps speeds. Carriers and service providers benefit from:
* Enhance Current Infrastructure: Maintain existing SONET investments
* Flexibility: Supports most high-speed data protocols
* Lower Costs: Bypass ILEC connections between network locations within a metro
* Increased Bandwidth: Augment existing infrastructure with additional capacity
* Shorter Times to Market: Services are available in days or weeks, not months or years
Telseon has entered a long-term network service agreement with Dynegy Inc., a leading provider of energy and communications solutions to customers in North America, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. Dynegy will leverage Telseon's footprint to expand its ability to service its customers in 18 metropolitan markets and 85 network locations. Dynegy is a $29 billion dollar global company that operates one of the largest optical networks in the country.
Starting in June, the service will be rolled out to Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington DC area.
