OCTOBER 19, 2006 -- 4Connections has successfully completed a dark fiber network rollout that connects a developing area in Northern New Jersey to New York City and other metro markets around the globe. This route is advantageous to the national and international financial exchange firms who require secure backhaul from lower Manhattan.
4Connections says the network deployment was completed ahead of schedule as a result of the consistent cooperation among its and partners, Public Service Electric & Gas, NJ's largest and oldest public utility; and Yipes Enterprise Services Inc., provider of managed, end-to-end Ethernet services for enterprise customers.
The project is part of an economic redevelopment program in Carteret, NJ. The private network buildout is attractive to financial and data exchange companies who need backhaul solutions to Wall Street, a viable real-estate market, and tax incentive opportunities, say 4Connections representatives.
The new communications infrastructure also allows firms to take control over their own network; once the enterprise has access to a key carrier hotel, it then can select a variety of carriers able to deliver new services at competitive rates.
Political and financial decision makers have described this network rollout as a 'win for New Jersey business' claim 4Connections representatives, who report that the new network infrastructure is part of a recent run of economic development projects in Northern New Jersey. The area now is home to the world's largest international data exchange, as well as many financial services companies and data providers.
