February 7, 2005 Minneapolis, MN --- North Dakota Telephone Company (NDTC) has selected APA Cables & Networks' (APACN's) fiber management and distribution products for deployment within its FTTP design.
According to a press release, NDTC's FTTP project is a two-year program to bring high-speed broadband and telephone service via fiber to homes and businesses in and around the city of Devils Lake. NDTC says it chose APACN based upon the company's ability to tailor a reliable fiber distribution and management platform to fit the telco's particular FTTP application.
"APACN was the only company that could supply this arrangement and deliver the product on a timely basis," comments Tim Twete, project manager for NDTC.
NDTC says it chose to deploy its FTTP platform through a centralized design in which the FTTP electronics were housed at the telco's Devils Lake exchange central office and three additional node sites within the exchange. According to the release, the APACN platform deployed included fiber distribution panels, cross-connects, and pre-connectorized fiber leads between the central office or node sites and the premises.
"The APACN solution provides a breakout design that lends itself to ease of installation and termination neatness on the active FTTP electronics," concludes Twete. "It was obvious through their design that the APACN personnel understood not only the connectivity requirements, but the characteristics of the entire architecture."
