ADVA upgrades Cross Telephone's network backbone with fiber service platform
JUNE 19, 2007 -- Cross Telephone Company, an Oklahoma-based local exchange carrier, has deployed ADVA Optical Networking's (search for ADVA) Fiber Service Platform (FSP) 3000RE to update its network backbone for profitable growth in services to business and residential users, as well as other service providers. The FSP 3000RE is currently delivering 10 Gbits/sec for Cross Telephone's voice, data, video, and wholesale services. Maximum scalability for the FSP 3000RE is up to 40 Gbits/sec on each of 40 wavelengths, or 1.6 Tbits/sec.
The ADVA FSP 3000RE is a dynamic optical transport platform that provides various service interfaces for central offices (COs), customer premises, colocation, and carrier hotel applications. Using Raman amplification, the FSP 3000RE can also support regional networks, where reach requirements can be up to 2,000 km and spans can reach 160 km. Wavelengths can be selectively configured at any node, with reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) or with fixed OADM filters, delivering an assortment of transparent, protocol-independent or aggregated services. Full monitoring and control are delivered via the RAYcontrol GMPLS-based control plane.

Cross Telephone deployed FSP 3000RE platforms at its 14 COs linked along three optical-fiber network rings across nearly 300 km. ADVA Optical's platform is able to support all of Cross Telephone's multiprotocol service traffic at native speeds, without the need for in-line amplification of the optical signals between any two COs.
